Athleisure has spent the last few years as the thing you wear to Pilates and the big shop. Sporty glam is what happens when it gets invited out. You take one properly sporty piece (a track jacket, a rugby shirt, side-stripe trousers) and put it with the stuff you normally save for Saturday night: heels, a sharp blazer, a skirt with some volume, more rings than strictly necessary.
Rihanna was wearing football shirts on date nights back in 2022, so it isn't new. 2026 has just pushed it harder. Pinterest's summer trend report had searches for "baddie tracksuit outfit" up 276% and "nylon tracksuit" up 158%, and on the AW26 runways Lacoste sent out oversized colour-blocked nylon track jackets while Patou paired a red zip-up with a fluid midi skirt. October is when a track jacket is finally the right weight to wear out, so this is the month to try it.
My verdict: worth it, with one condition. Keep one piece sporty and dress everything else up. A full tracksuit just looks like you're going to the gym, and a full going-out look with one token trainer mostly looks like your feet hurt.
“I got inspiration from red carpets, runways, rappers and men's style.”

Trinity Rodman's sporty glam looks, and how to get them
Nobody is doing this better right now than Trinity Rodman. The Washington Spirit and USWNT forward is signed to adidas and dresses off the pitch with real nerve. The three looks below, all from this year, cover the whole range: tailoring with trainers, a track jacket with heels, and a rugby shirt with a skirt. Each one comes with a rail of high-street pieces that get you close.

The Willy Chavarria suit with zebra-print adidas trainers
For the announcement of a new Washington Spirit contract on 23 January (the club and adidas both billed it as historic), stylist Karla Welch put Rodman in a black Willy Chavarria suit. The blazer is huge and double-breasted with wide peak lapels, the white shirt is knotted up above the waist, there's a navy and red striped tie, and the trousers have been swapped for knee-length black shorts. White adidas crew socks and zebra-print adidas SL 72 OG trainers finish it. The tailoring does the glam and the trainers do the sport, which makes this the easiest version to copy. Skip the tie if you like, but the blazer has to be at least a size too big.

The pieces to build a sporty glam night out
Building your own takes one sporty piece from the rails above and something properly dressed to put with it. Side-stripe trousers are the easiest way in, because the tailored versions already look like evening wear with a sports-day stripe. A black skirt with some fullness is the glam half of the rugby-shirt look, and heeled knee boots will do the same job for any track jacket that the slouchy pair did in March.
How to wear sporty glam on a night out
Keep it to one sporty piece
Track jacket or rugby shirt or side-stripe trousers. Add a second and the look tips straight back into gym kit.
Let the shoes do the dressing up
Heeled boots or a pointed slingback will do it. Trainers are allowed if the tailoring is sharp enough to carry them, which is exactly how Rodman got away with zebra-print adidas in January.
Look for a bit of shine
Matte cotton jersey reads like a warm-up. Satin, glossy nylon and patent leather catch the light, and that is what makes sportswear look like evening wear.
Wear more jewellery than feels sensible
There's a handful of rings or a stack of gold bangles in every one of Rodman's looks above. Gold against nylon and jersey makes the whole thing look deliberate.
Track jackets are the thinnest rail in this edit, and prices and sizes move fast across all of it. If something's in your size, don't sit on it.
