New Look has left subtlety for January. There's a pink jumper with a sequin Christmas pudding on it, a fluffy white one covered in appliqué and a black knit hung with sequin baubles. Most of them cost £20 to £27, so here's what to buy and what to leave. Prices are from our catalogue on 2 November.
New Look Christmas jumpers: which to buy
Buy the pink pudding (£25.19) if you want the joke. It has a sequin bow and it knows it's ridiculous, which is the whole job of a Christmas jumper. If you'd like to wear yours more than once, the black bauble jumper is £20.99, and black goes with the jeans you already own.
Skip the pink Christmas-pattern cardigan at £26.99. It costs as much as anything in the Christmas range, and it's so busy that you'll need a plain outfit underneath it on the one night you're wearing it. There are plus-size Curves versions of several Christmas jumpers too.
Not doing Christmas on your chest? Argyle and stripes run from £16 to £35, and there's a good choice of plain knits under £20.
New Look Christmas pyjamas: which to buy
The Christmas sets are the bargain here. Deck the Paws and A Tini Bit Merry are cotton T-shirt and shorts sets at £12.99, which is about as much as you should pay for pyjamas you'll wear for three weeks.
The one I'd buy is the black Christmas tree set with leopard print trousers at £19.99, because the leopard still works once the tree is down. Red check and stripe pyjama trousers are £22.99 and have nothing festive about them beyond the colour, so they'll last longer.
Think twice about the burgundy polka-dot jersey shirt set at £29.99. It's joint dearest in the range and it isn't a Christmas set at all. The whole range is small, 23 lines when we looked, with a few Petite and Tall cuts among them.
New Look slippers to go with them
Prices start at £9 and top out at £28.99, with most around £18. The faux fur mules are where New Look has the most fun: there's a capybara, a cockapoo and a sausage dog, all at £17.99.
How to wear New Look Christmas knits
Keep it to jeans
New Look shoots nearly all of these with blue or dark denim. Anything fancier ends up fighting the sequins.
Give the £12.99 sets as presents
At that price they make an easy secret Santa, as long as you've got a rough idea of the size.
Buy the leopard trousers for after Christmas
Lose the tree T-shirt in January and wear them with anything plain.
Christmas lines sell through fast and prices change, so check your size before you get attached.
