Brushed cotton and flannel for winter cosiness. Lightweight cotton percale and bamboo jersey for summer cool. Silk is temperature-regulating year-round but requires hand-washing. If comfort is your top priority, bamboo jersey is hard to beat, it's incredibly soft and stays that way.

Relaxed without being oversized, you want to be able to move and sleep freely. If you run warm at night, go slightly roomier for airflow. If you feel the cold, a closer fit retains heat better. Our size guides per brand help get this right first time.

Quality pairs last one to two years of regular wear. When the fabric thins, the elastic stretches, or the softness goes, it's time. Washing in cool water and air drying makes a huge difference to lifespan. And when they're done, donate or recycle rather than bin them.
